Court bonds farmer for failing to attend communal labour

Mankranso (Ash), May 14, GNA- The Mankranso Magistrate's court on Tuesday fined a 28-year-old farmer 500,000 cedis for failing to attend communal labour. Paa Yaw who pleaded guilty will serve 12 months in jail in default.

In addition, he was bonded over to be of good behaviour for two years or in default serve a two-year jail term. Mr Justice Owusu-Adjei, the Ahafo-Ano South District Environmental Health Officer, told the court presided over by Mr Frank Owusu-Afriyie, that on April 28, this year, there was communal labour at Ahwerewam organised by the assemblyman. He said Yaw refused to attend the communal labour and so his conduct was reported to the assemblyman and the unit committee. Summons was issued by the Mankranso Magistrate's court for him.

Mr Owusu-Adjei said when the summons was served on the accused, he insulted the unit committee members who served the summons calling them stupid people.
