Court fines five for defecating in open places

Sekondi July 13, GNA - A Sekondi District Magistrate's Court has fined five persons 500,000 cedis each for defecating in open places. The accused are: Foster Bosomtwe Nyamekye, Joseph Acquah, Kweku Boakye, Zakari Abdulai and Kobina Jesah.

They all pleaded guilty to the charge and would go to prison for three years in hard labour in default.

The Court ordered that 50 per cent of the fine should be paid into the coffers of the Shama-Ahanta East Metropolitan Assembly (SAEMA). Mr Anthony Hayford, Prosecuting Officer of SAEMA, told the Court that the Assembly's task force arrested the accused persons while defecating at East Tanokrom and Fijai communities on July 8,this year.
