Ho, July 22, GNA-A Ho Circuit Court on Tuesday sentenced Kobla Dzah Elagbe, a 29-year-old farmer from Ziavi, near Ho to seven years imprisonment for defiling and impregnating a 14-year-old-JSS student. Elagbe pleaded not guilty to the charge. Chief Inspector Christopher Agbodza, prosecuting told the court, presided over by Mr Nicholas Abodakpi that on May 17,last year, the victim agreed to accompany a lady known only as Awo to collect stones for cracking. He told the court that on reaching the outskirts of Ziavi, Awo entered the room of Elagbe and invited the victim to join her.

Chief Inspector Agbodza said Awo then closed the door behind the victim and bolted to enable Elagbe to defile the victim and warned her not to tell anyone about the incident. He said the victim confessed her predicament when after three months she realised that she was pregnant and this led to the arrest of Elagbe. In his explanation, Elagbe told the Court that the victim spent two days with him before he left the village.

He said that other boys in the village were also known to have had intercourse with the victim adding, " For this reason, I have also refused to pay 500,000 cedis being demanded by the victim's parents. I was not responsible for the pregnancy". Mr Abodakpi said evidence before the court indicated that other boys in the locality also had sex with the victim; "I will be lenient on you, hence sentenced to seven years imprisonment in hard labour".
