Rapper Medikal has revealed that a particular video featuring D-Black lighting a cigar for his estranged wife prompted him to announce their separation.

It can be recalled that during Medikal's performance at the O2 Indigo, D-Black extended his good wishes to Medikal, only to be met with insults from the latter.

This occurred due to the Black Avenue CEO's act of lighting a cigar for his spouse.

However, in an interview with Accra-based Starr FM, Medikal explained that he felt compelled to address their breakup publicly to quell speculation arising from the video of his partner smoking a cigar in a club.

"I don't typically exaggerate things. I value respect deeply. My senior colleague present here understands the principles we abide by. There are certain boundaries we uphold. Witnessing my colleague's spouse in public, partaking in such activities, didn't sit well with me," Medikal expressed.

He concluded, "At that moment, I knew it was over between us. Seeing that video was the tipping point for me to make our separation public. I couldn't bear the thought of someone assuming that my spouse would engage in such behavior."

Medikal further elaborated, expressing an understanding of D-Black's perspective but asserting his own discomfort with the situation.

Despite wishing he could have addressed the matter privately, Medikal felt compelled to speak out due to the implications of the video.

Background

Critics have since slammed D-Black for socializing with Fella Makafui and sharing a smoke with her at a club, particularly during the period of her highly publicized breakup with Medikal.

The controversy stemmed from a viral video showing D-Black lighting a cigar for Fella Makafui shortly after news of her split with Medikal broke.

D-Black's explanation

Earlier during a question-and-answer session, D-Black clarified that the event he and Fella Makafui attended was a "cigar party" hosted at one of his clubs.

He emphasized that he had minimal contact with Fella Makafui for nearly two years prior to the event, dismissing claims of impropriety.

Regarding the specific incident of lighting Fella's cigar, D-Black clarified that he merely assisted her in lighting the cigar she had purchased herself, refuting any insinuations of misconduct.
