Astute Ghanaian comedian Derick Kobina Bonney better known as DKB and fastest growing betting company in Ghana -Dafabet has donated Ghc4,000 to the Ghana Amputee Football Association at a short ceremony held at the world trade centre on July 30, 2019.

The donation was made to the President of the National Paralympic Committee Ghana Samson Deen who and his other members Peter Adjei and Philip Coffie of the NPC Ghana board received the cheque on behave of the Ghana Amputee Football Association in the presence of some members. The story behind the donation was better told by the comedian DKB.

The comedian, Derick Kobina Bonney who believed that the Black Stars will win the just ended AFCON held in Egypt, placed a Ghc4, 000 bet at odds of 7.5 in support of the Black Stars at the office of Dafabet at the Accra New Town branch. The Black Stars exited the 32nd Edition of the 2019 AFCON at the 1/16 stage making sure DKB’s dream of making money from betting gone with the wind.

“I had the vim that the Black Stars will win the 2019 AFCON so I asked some few friends which betting company should I chose, then they proposed DAFABET because it is new and they have the best odds so I should go for DAFABET. We then drove to their office at the Accra New Town branch and placing a bet of GH 4, 000.”

The story is out now and it is no news now that comedian DKB lost his bet on Ghana Black Stars to win the African Cup of Nations Tournament. You can blame him, most Ghanaians were optimistic that this time around the Stars will bring the trophy.

The comedian after the loss expressed his disappointment and admitted it was the first time he ever placed a bet. In a social media post right after Ghana lost to Tunisia, the comedian said “The First time I decided to put my confidence in the Black Stars and place my bet, Ghc 4000 is gone, I could have used it for something profitable like for charity. With serious mocking of the comedian on social media by his fans, according to DKB, DAFABET was kingly monitoring his activities and placed a call to him that they are ready to refund his 4,000 GHC to but with condition that he will donate the cash to the Ghana Amputee Association.

DKB gladly welcomed the news and the presentation was made to the Ghana Amputee Football Association as arranged by both parties.

DKB pledged his continues support for the Ghana Amputee Football Association. “I will not let this be the last time. I am ready to support. I will even organize comedies to help raise funds for the Association.”

Country Manager for DAFABET Sybil Diawuo-Appiah said, after monitoring DKB on social media, his bet got us a lot of mileage across social media and news headlines, so we decided to appreciate him by returning his stake amount to him for any charity of his choice”. This would mean the money is not completely lost, but would serve as a benefit to many under privileged individuals in our society.

DKB himself welcomes the decision to present the cash to the Amputee 5sports fraternity.

The Ghana Amputee Football Association first won their major trophy in 2007 in the African Amputee Nations Cup in Sierra Leone. Ghana hosted the competition in 2011 but lost to Liberia in the final on penalties after 3-3 drawn game at the Accra Stadium. The Amputee team has three world cup appearances in 2010 in Argentina, 2012 in Russia and 2014 in Mexico.

The team is billed to take part in the African Amputee Cup of Nations in Angola in August 2019.

President of the National Paralympic Committee Ghana Samson Deen express his delight for the gesture.

” I had a call from my good friend here saying they have a package for the Ghana Amputee Association, I didn’t ask how match, I told her I am coming to see you then I called my secretary general Peter Adjei lets go to DAFABET they have some good news for us. We got there and we were told this good news.” Samson Deen promise to put the money to the right use.

Dafabet, one of Asia’s and Africa’s largest gaming companies, is now fully incorporated and operational in Ghana and licensed by the gaming commission of Ghana under the gaming act 2006.
