Comedian DKB
Ghanaian Comedian, Derek Kobina Bonney, popularly known as DKB, has taken a swipe at ace Nigerian Afrobeat singer Davido over an interview the musician granted to Vice News.
Davido in the interview when asked about his favorite Afrobeats musicians, listed artistes from Nigeria such as D’Banj, PSquare, Burna Boy, Wizkid, Fela Kuti.
He went further to mention Meek Mill and Offset for the USA and Black Coffee from South Africa. Davido did not mention any Ghanaian act, even though he has collaborations with some Ghanaian Afrobeat artistes.
His deliberate attempt at ignoring Ghanaian acts infuriated the comedian, who took to his twitter handle to express his displeasure at the situation.
He tweeted; “Davido thank you for ignoring us. You clearly don't know a single Ghanaian afrobeat artiste! But you are the same person who chases Ghanaian artistes for collabo, remixes and hooks. No be ur fault, it be we wey we fool! If this be some Ghana artiste like he go list Naija acts”!

Call for Ghanaians to support their own
The conversation about Ghanaians supporting and promoting their music, comedy and movies have been had on many platforms. Critics have said that the Ghanaian’s inability to promote, patronize and support the talents that abound in Ghana is largely to blame for the seeming collapse and lack of patronage of the entertainment industry.
One person that has been vocal about this growing phenomenon is Derek Kobina Bonney, also known as DKB. The comedian has always criticized Ghanaians for not supporting their own and preferring foreign content to locally produced ones.
Actress and TV presenter Joselyn Dumas also recently took to her twitter to question Ghanaians insatiable appetite for foreign content as opposed to what is produced in Ghana. She advised Ghanaians to emulate the Nigerian attitude of supporting and consuming their own content, whether it is good or bad.
