DKB slams Ofori Amponsah

Ghana’s ‘King of Comedy’, Derrick Kobina Bonney, popularly known as DKB has described as ‘awkward’, the comeback of Pastor Ofori Amponsah to highlife.

Years after the Abele singer decided to respond to the call of God to be a pastor, he has taken a ‘U-turn’ to release a love song titled Alewa which features Illuminati rapper Sarkodie.

Speaking to Abrantepa on Radio Univers’ mid-morning show, Brunch2Lunch, DKB said people are chastising Ofori Amponsah because society expects a pastor to stand for righteousness among others.

“To move to the pastoral side and come back to do secular music is two conflicting elements. When you move to the pastoral side, the yardstick on you is very high. In the sense that people expect you to stand for righteousness, morality, purity and you must be devoid of any activities that a layman will involve himself in. and that is why people are reacting towards it,” he said.

DKB likened the comeback to well-known pastors singing secular songs.

“If you are singing ‘Alewa’, some people may say it’s just a toffee you are talking about, others may interpret it as a girl’s centre of gravity.

So all these ambiguity involved is what society expects you to stay away from. That’s why it is a bit awkward that he has come back to secular music or whatever you will call it.
