Nigerian Afrobeat artiste, Davido, has reacted to Stonebwoy's historic wins at the 25th Telecel Ghana Music Awards held on Saturday, June 1, 2024.
The internationally acclaimed musician Stonebwoy reached a significant milestone by being honoured with the Artiste of the Year award at the 2024 Ghana Music Awards, following a monumental year that saw him headline multiple sold-out shows across the continent and release several hit singles as well as an album.
This historic win makes Stonebwoy the second artist to receive this notable recognition twice.
Additionally, Stonebwoy was awarded his 8th Reggae & Dancehall Artiste of the Year, the most by any artist in that category. His collaboration with multi-Grammy award-winning singer Angelique Kidjo, "Manodzi," won multiple awards, including Best International Collaboration, Record of the Year, and Best Songwriter of the Year. At the same time "5th Dimension" was adjudged Best Album of the Year.
Furthermore, Stonebwoy's collaboration with KiDi on "Likor" also earned Best Collaboration of the Year.
On the night, Stonebwoy delivered a highly-rated performance, creating a unique experience for attendees. He performed some fan favourites from his catalogue, such as "Apotheke," "Manodzi," "Ekelebe," and "Overlord," alongside unreleased singles.
The King of Afrobeat, Davido, who won the Best African Artiste of the Year award, extended his congratulations to Stonebwoy on his massive win.
Reacting to a post by Stonebwoy on Instagram, he wrote, "Number one; no debate. Anyone who doesn't agree will eventually agree. Congrats, my brother, and love to you and the family! It's your time, enjoy!!!"
