Dear GhanaWeb,

I am a 33-year-old woman and a lesbian. I was introduced to same-sex relationships in middle school by my then school mother. At first, I found it uncomfortable, but over time, I became accustomed to it and eventually embraced it.

I later introduced it to my school daughter and others. Today, I consider myself a successful woman and currently have no plans of marrying or being with a man.

Most of the people I have been involved with are now married. Although they have not completely stopped their relationships with me, everything is done discreetly.

I currently have two partners and we have been together for almost eight years. However, one of them got married due to pressure from her family.

The three of us know each other and had agreed to remain together. We made a covenant not to marry other people but to stay committed to one another. Unfortunately, she broke that agreement, but still wants to remain part of the relationship.

We presented our concerns to her, but she says it is too early to leave her marriage because of public scrutiny.

She is now pregnant and believes that having a child will satisfy her family’s expectations.

We have decided not to continue the relationship with her because we do not feel comfortable being involved with a married person.

However, we are worried about the covenant we made together. It was a blood covenant, and we have heard frightening stories about the possible consequences of breaking such agreements.

Our fear is whether refusing to continue the relationship with her could have negative spiritual or emotional effects on us.

We want to know if there could be consequences and whether there is a safe way to nullify the covenant.

We are really scared something terrible might happen. What do we do now?

FG/EB
