Dear GhanaWeb,

I was only 17 when my mother encouraged me to date a 41-year-old married man because she believed he could help take care of us financially.

At the time, I never imagined that arrangement would turn into something deeper. What was supposed to be temporary eventually became an almost eight-year relationship, and somewhere along the way, I genuinely fell in love with him.

He became the only man I had ever known intimately. I never dated anyone else, and despite how our relationship started, I came to depend on him emotionally as much as I did financially.

He cared for me, supported me and became a major part of my life. Until today, he remains the only man who has ever seen me naked.

But everything changed when his wife discovered our relationship.

From then onwards, there was constant conflict. She confronted us several times, threatened us and made the situation increasingly difficult.

I was already dealing with the emotional pressure when my health suddenly began to deteriorate.

A few months before he died, I became paralysed without any clear medical explanation. I have visited several hospitals, undergone different tests and tried various treatments, but nothing has brought back my health.

Then, while I was still struggling with my condition, the man I loved suddenly became ill and died. His autopsy report reportedly stated that he died from food poisoning, and his death completely broke me.

Since his death, my condition has become even worse. Apart from being paralysed, my stomach has continued to swell. It keeps getting bigger and increasingly painful, yet I still have no clear answer despite visiting different hospitals.

I am frightened because I don’t understand what is happening to my own body.

In desperation, I started seeking spiritual help as well. What has confused me even more is that several people at different spiritual places have separately told me that his wife is responsible for what has happened to both of us.

I have prayed, gone through deliverance sessions and followed different spiritual directions, but nothing has changed. Instead, I feel my condition is getting worse.

Today, I am exhausted, confused and emotionally broken. I don’t know whether I should continue searching for answers at hospitals, seek another spiritual opinion or stop everything and approach my situation differently.

I have spent so much money and gone through so much pain, yet I still don’t know what is wrong with me. How should I go about this please. I need help!
