Mrs Dzifa Abla Gomashie, the Deputy Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, has called on parents to find ways of motivating children who show interest in creative arts.

She said there was the need for parents to motivate their children to develop their talents so as to take up professions in the industry.

Mrs Gomashie said this at the opening of a 12-day fun packed event dubbed: “Christmas City” in Accra.

The Christmas City programme is designed to excite children, while they play with their families and friends during the festive occasion.

The Minister said children should be encouraged to fill the gap in the creative arts industry to promote its development.

She urged children to emulate the good examples of some of the practitioners in the industry to develop their God given talent.

“If children identify any arts in the industry, be it singing, acting, drumming or drawing, they should be helped,” she said.

She commended management of PopOut and Values for Life, organisers of the programme for organizing the event.

Mr Maximus Ametorgoh, Managing Director, PopOut, said it was an opportunity for parents to bring their children to experience the biggest kids funfair this Christmas.

He said there would be various activities including bouncy castles, face painting, Lord of the Rings and many other exciting games.

He said also as part of the programme children would be entertained with family and Christmas movies.

He commended corporate institutions for their support to the fully packed entertainment activities for the children and expressed the hope that next year, the programme would be expanded to other parts of the country.

He said on Christmas Day, organisers would organize a party for over 500 children at the Efua Sutherland Children's Park.

The Pan-African Youth Orchestra were on standby to entertain the children with some of their renditions.
