Ghanaian media personality and popular travel blogger Wode Maya has warned young men against the excess consumption of aphrodisiacs in a bid to impress women.

In a post shared on his X handle, the popular YouTuber said he was alarmed by the number of young men he encountered at a facility, with medical staff indicating that a significant proportion of kidney-related cases at the centre were linked to the abuse of sexual performance-enhancing drugs.

"I just came out of a dialysis centre, and the number of young men there was really alarming. Apparently, many of the cases were linked to the abuse of aphrodisiacs," he wrote.

The travel content creator used the moment to speak directly to his young male audience, urging them to prioritise their long-term health over short-term pleasures.

"Dear young men, trying to impress a woman by going to extremes isn't worth risking your health. Take care of your body. No moment of pleasure is worth a lifetime of consequences," he cautioned.

Wode Maya's warning comes amid growing concern among health professionals about the widespread and largely unregulated use of aphrodisiacs and sexual performance boosters among young men in Ghana.

Many of these substances, often sold informally without approval from the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), have been linked to serious kidney and liver damage when consumed excessively.
