President Akufo-Addo and Former President John Mahama
On October 17, 2017, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana took to social media micro-blog Twitter to wish Ghanaian reggae/dancehall musician, Shatta Wale, a happy birthday, while calling on him to pay him a visit at the seat of government.
His tweet reads “Happy birthday @shattawalegh! You for come visit me for Flagstaff House o!,”
As the Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces publicly wished the ‘Ayoo’ hitmaker a happy birthday, it was expected of him to join many who poured out birthday wishes on the immediate past president of Ghana but were disappointed the president ignored his predecessor on his fifty-ninth milestone.
Although the two giant personalities in Ghana don’t exactly seem like best friends due to partisan politics, president Akufo-Addo was nevertheless expected by many to reach out and wish his political opponent a happy birthday.
It is so far unknown why the first gentleman of land refused to express his affection towards Ghana’s former president, H.E. John Dramani Mahama.
