Contestants of music reality shows should rather take advantage of the exposure the event gives them instead of looking forward for assistance from organisers, singer, Dela has said.

According to the composer and performer, a music reality show only serves as a stepping stone for contestants in their quest to become music stars and should therefore make the most of opportunities these shows come with.

“What reality shows seek to do is to expose you and improve your act. So I would say that, you go in there, grab what you can and when you come out, you do not depend on the reality show. You need to bring yourself out there because the reality show organisers make you do things that will promote their project. So when you are out, what you need to do is to capitalise on whatever you learnt there and the fame you have acquired and work on yourself. The onus is on you to make yourself a star or not,” she said on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz.

Dela, one of Greater Accra representatives of TV3 Mentor 3 organised in 2007, further quelled allegations that music reality shows only seek to exploit contestants.

After taking a long break from mainstream music to pursue academic excellence, the songstress has announced her comeback with a single titled, “Let Me Go”.

Produced by Richie, the song addresses the incessant abuse in relationships.
