Ghanaian musician and TV presenter Mzbel has expressed concerns about Adwoa Penamang, who claims to be the wife of Yaw Sarpong, and her handling of donations the veteran gospel artiste received.
Mzbel questioned why Penamang would grant interviews and scrutinize the utilization of funds donated by Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Mzbel stated that the disputes over the funds given to the ailing gospel musician are troubling, given his condition.
In a panel discussion on Wontumi TV, Mzbel asked whether Penamang was expecting the money donated by Bawumia to be handed over to her (Penamang).
"Vice President [Bawumia] donated to Yaw Sarpong, and it's surrounded by controversy. What is his wife implying, does she want the money to be handed to her?"
It will be recalled that Dr. Bawumia contributed an amount of GH¢100,000 to assist Yaw Sarpong during his health struggles.
In an interview with Auntie Naa on Oyerepa FM, Adwoa Penamang disclosed how the family has mistreated and neglected her since Yaw Sarpong fell ill.
Penamang mentioned that she had suggested using part of the family’s money to complete the musician's housing project, but her advice was disregarded. She also stated that she has been Yaw Sarpong’s wife for forty years, although the family and the musician claim she is no longer his spouse.
Yaw Sarpong has been suffering from a stroke, but there are hopes that he will fully recover and continue his ministry.
