Ghanaian musician Ayat Maqwam Salis, also known as Kirani Ayat, has criticised ‘descendants of politicians’, accusing them of being as insensitive to the plight of Ghanaians as their parents.

In a post on his X account on October 9, 2024, Ayat referred to the current president, claiming a link between the president’s alleged corrupt family background and his governance.

"If the father is corrupt, the children will be corrupt. The current president came from fathers widely reported to be corrupt. So do not expect anything different from their descendants," he posted.

The musician's comments come amid growing concerns raised by citizens frustrated with ongoing issues such as illegal mining (galamsey) and perceived governmental corruption.

Many young individuals related to politicians have been accused of being equally negligent of the citizenry's plight.

This is not the first time Kirani Ayat has been vocal about political and social issues. He previously made headlines for his copyright infringement dispute with the Ghana Tourism Authority, which was eventually settled.
