Don Jazzy, the head of the Mavins Record Label in Nigeria, has said he will work with his former friend and colleague D’banj if given the perfect opportunity.
The two headed the one-time groundbreaking record label in Africa, Mo’Hit, with Don Jazzy as CEO and D’banj - the number one musician on the label – but parted ways in 2012 citing irreconcilable differences.
Nigerian media since 2012, reported consistently the two had a frosty relationship. Last month, the Vanguard reported the ‘beef’ had intensified.
But speaking to Starr Drive host Bola Ray on Accra-based Starr 103.5FM, Friday, an evasive Don Jazzy said working with his old friend again is a possibility although he does not think they both can make the time.
“Erm today. As at today I wouldn’t have the chance…Can’t you see now? My children, they are many,” he said making reference to the artistes signed on to his Mavin Records label.
“I’m building something I believe is going well, he is building something and you don’t know the agenda.”
Listen to Don Jazzy stammer through as Bola Ray asked him if he was willing to put the past behind him and reunite with his former comrade.
