Double Do, a group comprising two boys, Adjei Oko and Andrews Tetteh Mensah, both 12 years of age and pupils of Lester International School at Teshie in Accra, last week emerged winners out of nine contestants performing in the grande finale of the popular TV Africa’s child reality show dubbed ‘Amazing Child’ season iv.
They received a cheque for GH¢2000, 25 boxes of Indomie and large collections of sponsors’ products.
Latele Larkai and J.A.Dancers also took the second and third positions receiving GH¢1000, GH¢700, 20 and 15 boxes of Indomie among other sponsors’ prizes respectively.
Contestants also received special prizes in the categories of “Most Improved contestant”, “Most Disciplined Contestant” and “Most Creative Contestant”. Each contestant in the various categories received GH¢500 cash vouchers.
The Deputy Minister for Tourism Culture and Creative Arts, Dzifa Abla Gomashie, commended TV Africa for its policy to invest in children to help them to unearth what she termed the Ghanaian in them.
The minister urged other networks to come up with child-friendly contents, adding that such projects were avenues to help children build confidence and appreciate their culture.
Miss Dzifa Gomashie, who has a great passion in grooming children in Ghanaian values and skills development in the creative arts, basketry and batik making among others, appealed to corporate institutions to sponsor child-friendly projects.
The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Nana Oye Lithur, urged parents to encourage their children to take part in creative activities adding that the creative arts go beyond entertainment, as it helps prepare them for their future roles as leaders.
