Tema, June 26, GNA - The Tema Circuit Court 'A' has granted bail in the sum of 80 million cedis to a driver who negligently caused harm to a cyclist. Kwasi Nyampong, 31, pleaded not guilty to two counts of careless driving and negligently causing harm to Mensah Dzinabo and will re-appear on July 3, 2004.

Chief Inspector Sarah Aggrey Acquah told the Court, presided over by Charles Asiedu, that on September 30, 2003, at about 0830 hours, Nyampong was driving a Benz bus with registration number VR 5118 C from Accra to Ho with passengers on board. She said in a bid to avoid running into a taxi cab that had slowed down to take a turn near Afariwa Farms junction at Ashaiman, Nyampong swerved the vehicle to the side of the road and in the process hit Dzinado who was on his bicycle.

Chief Inspector Acquah said the victim sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the Tema General Hospital where he was admitted for two days.
