Driver fined 400,000 cedis for careless driving

Cape Coast Jan. 12, GNA- A 42-year-old driver from Takoradi, Victor Sekyi Kwaku, was on Monday fined 400,000 cedis by a circuit court at Cape Coast for careless driving. Kwaku who pleaded guilty, would go to prison for five months if he fails to pay the fine.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector Oheneba Boateng, told the court presided over by Mr Mustapha Logoh, that on July 11, 2003 at about 6.15 pm., Kwaku was driving an articulated truck, from Takoradi towards Accra.

He said on reaching a Goil filling station at Cape Coast, he parked the vehicle in front of a Fan Milk company mobile van, which was also parked at the station, and in a bid to reverse his vehicle out of the station, the truck razed part of the vann and caused damage to it.

The matter was reported to the police and after investigations, Kwaku was charged with the offence, prosecution said.
