Tema, Jan 30, GNA - A driver who hailed insults on a Policeman who tried to stop him and resisted arrest after jumping traffic and driving on a pavement on the Spintex road, was on Friday granted 25 million cedis bail with a surety by a Tema Circuit Court.

Yaw Amakwaa pleaded not guilty to resisting lawful arrest, assault and damaging the uniforms of two Policemen.

Inspector Adolphus Otchere told the court that on January 11, Constable Sylvester Asare saw Amankwa driving on the shoulder of the road because of a traffic hold up.

The Constable stopped him and asked him to join the queue of vehicles but the accused refused and retorted, "You can carry the car yourself".

The Prosecution said Amakwaa rained insults on the Policeman and told him "you stupid policeman next time try to stop me and I will end your life".

He said the Constable Asare got assistance from another Policeman but when they attempted to arrest Amankwaa he resisted and tore their uniforms.
