Du Bois Centre to organise African Fashion Night

Accra, May 26, GNA - The management of Du Bois Centre would organize an African Fashion Night on Friday, May 28 as part of activities marking the Centenary celebration of the birth of Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah. Mrs Bernice Dei Kuma, Acting Executive Director of the Centre, briefing newsmen in Accra on Wednesday, said the month of 'May' was for African Unity and the event would be considered as one of the numerous contribution of the Centre to the preservation of African history, arts and culture. She explained that it was to unite Africans and "showcase our cultural clothing and designs that unites us as one people to stand for economic, social and political freedom".

Mrs Kuma noted that Dr Nkrumah's dreams of African identity and general knowledge on Africans history, invited Du Bois to Ghana to be the Founding Director of African Encyclopedia, the two friends, who believed in the ability and creativity of Africans, therefore provided an opportunity for Africans to be self-supportive and self sufficient. The Centre was established in 1985 to serve as a research institute for Pan African history, culture and as a crucible for Diasporan creativity and promotion of social, political culture and intellectual legal of Africans.
