Following a recent event at a durbar where John Dumelo spewed some derogatory remarks about his opponent Lydia Alhassan, MC Yaa Yeboah has asserted that Dumelo is unfit for the MP position in the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency.

According to the TV presenter and pundit, the constituency has historically been represented by level-headed and distinguished politicians. She argues that Dumelo's recent outbursts demonstrate that he is unsuitable for the role.

Yaa Yeboah emphasised that Ayawaso West Wuogon is a constituency of elites whose voting preferences reflect a desire for individuals who can add substantial value.

She then compared Dumelo unfavourably to prominent figures such as the current Chief of Staff, Frema Osei Opare, and the late Emmanuel Agyarko, both of whom have previously served the constituency.

"I say this with humility and respect," Yeboah stated. "I believe John Dumelo lacks the political and emotional maturity required to lead the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency. I make this assertion without apology. If you can be provoked to this extent by the followers of your opponent at a durbar, then I am sorry. How can you be expected to handle the basic responsibilities of politics? Even an Assemblyman or a DCE would not make such mistakes. This is a constituency composed of elites."

She continued, "Ayawaso West Wuogon has been led by strong individuals over the years. Consider Madam Frema Opare, the current Chief of Staff, and the late Emmanuel Agyarko, a respected politician and pharmacist who even led the FDA at one point. The dynamics of this constituency indicate that they seek representatives who can truly contribute to their advancement."

Background:

Tensions escalated when John Dumelo made remarks linking Lydia Alhassan, his political opponent, to the death of her late husband during a TV3 program.

His comments were a response to chants from constituents and perceived personal attacks from Alhassan’s supporters about the infamous V8 saga.

In the heat of the moment, Dumelo suggested that Alhassan needed to address questions regarding her husband’s death.

His remarks, intended as a counterattack, have since sparked widespread criticism on social media.
