Ghanaian actor and Entrepreneur, John Dumelo has been tasked by the United Nations Population Fund, UNFPA to help in their campaign against Obstetric Fistula in the country.
Happy John Dumelo announcing his involvement in the campaign said he was pleased to be part of the campaign.
The multiple award-wining actor wrote:
"Was invited by the UNFPA to see how best we can collaborate and reduce the rate of obstetric fistula Ghana. I’m pleased to be part of this campaign….
obstetric fistula is a hole between the vagina and rectum or bladder that is caused by prolonged obstructed labor, leaving a woman incontinent of urine or feces or both. For women with obstructed labor, labor that goes unattended, the labor can last up to six or seven days. About 1000 women suffer from this in Ghana each year. lets make Ghana a better place #together we can"
According to Wikipedia, Obstetric fistula or vaginal fistula is a medical condition in which a hole develops between either the rectum and vagina or between the bladder and vagina after severe or failed childbirth, when adequate medical care is not available
