Ebony Magazine team to tour Ghana

A team of writers and photographers from Ebony Magazine, an iconic African-American magazine, would embark on a week tour of Ghana starting from August 21 to 29.

The team would visit a number of tourism attraction sites and pay courtesy calls on some traditional rulers in Greater Accra, Ashanti and Central regions.

Madam Catherine Abelema Afeku, the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, told the Ghana News Agency in an interview in Accra on Friday.

She said they would visit Okomfo Anokye Sword, Adanmowase Kente Cloth/Ntonso for Adinkra stamping, Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum, Arts Centre, Boti Falls, Kokobrite Beach, Kakum National Park, WEB Dubois Centre and Assin Manso Last Bath River

She said the team would also interview her, some officials of the Ghana Tourism Authority and participate in this year’s Chale Wote Arts Festival, as well as interact with members of the African-American Association of Ghana.

The Minister said the team’s interviews and activities in Ghana would feature prominently in its monthly publications to publicise the nation’s tourism potentials to global audience, especially the Black Community in the United States.

The team is made up of Ivy Coco, Social Media Blogger, Tammy Bender, photographer, Rosalind Cummings-Yeates, writer and Karl Reeves, photographer.

The rest are; Janet Muhammad, real estate investor, Kelly Davison, publicist for the Adinkra Group, Diallo Sumbry, CEO of the Adinkra Group, Gina Paige, President of AfricanAncestry.com, Linda Johnson Rice, Chain woman Emerit.
