Creative Ghanaian rapper - Edem has raised questions about the credibility of the well celebrated 4Syte music video Awards.
The ‘Best Rapper’ star who has received seven nominations with a number of his hit songs said he is surprised his much talked about ‘Koene’ track did not make any of the categories.
Speaking on the Starr Drive on Starr 103.5 FM, Edem said he agreed with other artistes and fans who are questioning the integrity of the 4Syte award scheme.
“You are organising an award for us, but every time it comes out, the people you represent have a problem with it…” he said.
Dancehall artiste Stonebwoy on Sunday told his fans via his Facebook wall he was not pleased with the nomination he received.
He was also concerned about not getting any nominations with what he considered as his hit song ‘Not Again'.
According to him, he should have been in the ?’Best Male Video?’ and ‘?Best Story Line’? categories with that track, and Edem shares the same sentiments.
The ‘Over Again’ hit maker stated he believes all awards schemes put together to celebrate Ghanaians have been poorly instituted over the years.
“It's seven nominations but it is not about the numbers...you have to wake up in the morning and be proud that you have an award in your closet but most of the awards you get, you don’t wake up remembering you won an award,” he stated passionately.
Edem who believes he has intervene for up and coming performers also compared the value of credits given to Ghanaian entertainers to what their counterparts in the United States are given.
“If an artiste is rewarded and it doesn’t impact on his level of showmanship then it is nothing… people are quick to say I’m a five-time Grammy award nominee, nobody is quick to say such of any of the Ghanaian award schemes,” he noted.
"They have to get better. It looks like every time there is an award, there are series of incidents that people are not happy about. So every year it has to get better so that we know that it is going somewhere."
