Ehalakasa opened its doors to audiences last month revealing an array of events to jolt the poetry scene in Ghana.

Ehalakasa Concerts were one of such events announced at the Ehalakasa Talk Party last month. The Concerts are aimed at promoting both Poets and the art form of expression. Ehalakasa will choose deserving artists to grace its platform and showcase to the world their artistic worth. A minimum of three concerts are set to be staged this year.

The first Concert is set to happen on Sunday, 26th April, 2015. The concert features Poetra Asantewa and 100% as the main acts as well as other supporting acts.

Poetra Asantewa is a multitalented artist who has performed on various platforms and events in Ghana. Poetra came in third in the Stanza Digital Slam 2013 and recently returned from Uganda, as the only Ghanaian amongst 14 women invited to the writing workshop by Femrite, an indigenous Non-Governmental Organization based in Uganda that promotes women writing.

100% in 2014 triumphed as the overall winner of the Ehalakasa Slam in which over 40 poets in Ghana contested. The artist in 2013 produced three impressive solo shows and concluded the year with a show at Marvels, Dzorwulu in collaboration with Heel The World (H.T.W). He is currently working working on a show next week dubbed “100% Rush” featuring Award Winning Song Writer and Poet, Kacey Moore.

Together, Poetra and 100% have named the first Ehalakasa Concert P.O.W. An acronym for Power, Love and War. In their performances they shall explore these concepts through poetry and music and promise to leave audiences thrilled and excited for more.

The concert takes place at Nubuke Foundation, East Legon. The Concert opens up to audiences at 18:00. Price per ticket is 15 GHC.
