Ghanaian musician Mujahid Ahmed Bello, known in showbiz as Fancy Gadam, has cancelled his music concert scheduled for Saturday June 30 2018, after eight fans died in an accident.
The award-winning artiste was expected to perform at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium alongside Patoranking from Nigeria.
He posted on his Facebook page after the gory accident that he was with heavy heart and “I can’t lose my fans and still have the heart to stage a show”.
Class FM’s Northern regional correspondent Mohammed Gadafi, who visited the accident scene and the Tamale Teaching Hospital reported that scores of fans were also injured with some in critical condition.
He explained that the car tyre of one of the vans, occupied by fans who were on their way to welcome Fancy Gadam at the Tamale Airport, burst causing the driver to lose control of the steering wheel and the van rammed into a moving truck ahead.
The accident occurred about three kilometres away from the Central Business District in Tamale on Friday 29 June 2018.
Several of the motor riders in the convoy which included Zylofon Cash cars also crashed the van.
There were hundreds of riders on motor bicycles with others in cars en route to the airport.
