Ghanaian actor Ekow Smith Asante, sources say is romantically involved with beautiful Ghanaian actress of Greek lineage, Nikoletta Samonas, known among her pals as Nikki.
News-One sources said the two have been warming each other’s beds for a very long time and are about the only Ghanaian actors who are madly in love with each other. The source said they do everything together as a couple. However Ekow Smith flatly denied having any amorous relationship with the actress when contacted yesterday. “Not, it is not true,” he simply said. Efforts to get Nikki proved futile as she did not pick up her phone when contacted. Ekow and Nikki have been spotted together at different programmes, including movie premiers, in postures that clearly indicated that they are really dating.
They also play roles together. The recent movie production that led to the claims of a ban slapped on Ekow, has the two of them starring in it. News-One lenses captured the two alleged lovebirds during Yvonne Nelson’s Glaucoma launch sometime last year.
At the recent Ghana movie awards, the two appeared to have arrived at the Accra International Conference separately, but after entering the auditorium, News-One overhead Nikki talking to someone on her cell phone, possibly Ekow, telling him that she was waiting for him inside. Ekow is a household name in Ghana and Africa as a whole. He has featured in a number of movies.
Currently he is trying his hand at directing. Nikki also had a stint with the movie industry a few years ago after she was given a minor role by Abdul Salam in his Venus Film’s hit move, Beyonce’, while she was at the University.” Acting was never in my plans.
