Ghanaian actress Ella Mensah was honoured last Saturday, as Best Outstanding Rising Actress at the 2013 edition of the Gbedu Awards in Nigeria.
The award ceremony which was organized by April7 Entertainment and Naija Cable TV brought together a number of Nigerian entertainment personalities.
The award was founded in 2001 to honour deserving talents in entertainment locally and globally but went off the scene since 2008. It returned in 2012 to make a statement in Nigeria’s industry.
Ella Mensah is the first Ghanaian to have been heard to pick Gbedu Award this year. She was honoured for playing part in the development of entertainment in Nigeria and also her contributions to Ghana’s entertainment industry.
Ella is described as a wild Ghanaian actress. She has been working in Nigeria for close to a year now. She has shot a lot of movies there now and tagged as one of the fattest rising Ghanaian actresses in Nollywood.
She made her debut in ‘Crime To Christ’ where she played a prostitute alongside Africa’s 2012 best actor, Majid Michel and a host of others. Since then, she has featured in a number of good Ghanaian movies.
Among them are ‘Playboy’, ‘Pretty Queen’, ‘Her Excellency’, ‘Bed of Rose’, ‘Deadline’ and ‘Shakira.’
She currently has more movies in Nigeria as she has been shooting there for the past nine months.
