Encourage your fans to stream your songs – Jonilar to musicians

Ghanaian celebrity publicist and tourist, Jonathan Nii Laryea, known in showbiz circles as Jonilar has added his voice to the recent Spotify performance statistics of musicians.

Speaking on Zylofon FM on Thursday morning he noted that online marketing platforms offer musicians in the new era a gear opportunity to sell their songs. Judging from the impressive figures made by Ghanaian musicians in Spotify’s end of year stats, he said if musicians make it a deliberate effort to promote their songs on these stores, the music industry will be better.

He therefore urged Ghanaian musicians to urge their fans to stream their songs. “Ghanaian musicians should encourage their fans to stream songs on the various online stores”

Answering questions on why not all Ghanaians artiste are making enough money from streaming, he explained that, most artiste do not have digital managers to map up marketing and promotional strategies, some do not also have account profiles so their contents are not organized online.

Jonilar suggested that going forward, musicians should focus on promoting their digital links, support it with good music videos, urge fans to create playlist and also engage the services of digital managers to properly manage their accounts. He also advised that the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) and the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO) should team up with the appropriate partners in the future, build a catalogue and eventually request to become an aggregator in Ghana.

In doing that taxes will be pay locally, government will also have a clear picture of how to support the industry as well.
