Fred Amugi
Former president of the Ghana Actors Guild, Fred Amugi has stated that entertainment players who have had the opportunity to be in government and in parliament are not helping for the betterment of the industry, a situation he said is very worrying.
According to Mr Amugi on Accra FM with DJ Premier, he said he does not want to mention names since he thinks those personalities he is pointing at know themselves.
"They are not helping at all. They know themselves and I don't want to mention names. Because once, we sat with some of them when they were not in parliament and we all used to be pushing for the government to do something about the industry. So when they went to parliament, we were all happy because we thought have our own in parliament. Up till now, they have never raised a voice."
However in a reaction to the complain by the former president, Hon Fritz Baffuor, member of parliament for Ablekuma South Constituency in the Greater Accra Region and former actor said he can come out on radio and complain about the woes in the industry but he can not just stand up in parliament to raise a complain concerning the industry.
Mr Fred Amugi was the former president of the Ghana Actors Guild before the late Rev Eddie Coffie who served tirelessly to seek to the well being of the movie industry.
