One of Ghana's finest music stars, Ester Smith recently set a new chart show record on the music scene when she became the first musician ever to occupy the top spot of the S.P.A.B. CHART SHOW on channel R for 37 weeks.
Ester Smith latest album entitled (nyame boafo) became an instant hit after it was released; no wonder the fascinating track (nipa) caused a stir on the gospel chart.
The previous record holder on the chart show was the award winning Cindy Thompson whose song (Ewurade Kasa) took the first place for 36 weeks.
According to. D.J.Abio the host of program scenes it inception on the 5th of February 2000, though he knew that Esther Smith songs was a potent hit song, to have gone beyond 36weeks was beyond his imagination ..The S.PA.B Chart show has run on channel R for the past 5years and the criteria for selection of songs is based on Air play, popularity of the song, audience appeal, weekly sales of CD"S and cassettes and finally advertisement.
Other Ghanaian musicians who previously occupied the chart show for a long time include Lord Kenya with (MEDO), 34 weeks And Kojo Antwi with TOM AND JERRY for 30 weeks all on the JOY FM"S Mega Hits Chart show.
