There was quite a stir at the Total Filling Station near Farisco, Adabraka, when a lunatic, known only as Sanda, last Tuesday engaged an evangelist who was praying for him in a fierce fight, attracting a large crowd.

Sanda, known to be aggressive and violent, apparently did not take kindly to it when the evangelist, Rolland Odartey Mills of the Wesley Methodist Church at Palladium, who was on an outreach programme preaching and praying for people, approached him and offered to heal him through prayers.

According to an eyewitness, when Evangelist Mills first approached Sanda last Tuesday in the afternoon, the latter resisted and immediately attacked Evangelist Mills. This resulted in a fierce struggle which lasted several minutes until a cobbler who was passing by went to assist the evangelist..

After the separation, Evangelist Mills put his hand on Sanda’s head and started praying earnestly, asking God to cast the demons away from Sanda. Sanda soon became calm and did not resist anymore.

The eyewitness said this attracted spontaneous applause from the crowd when they realised that Sanda had had divine healing. With the assistance of onlookers who had gathered there, Evangelist Mills bathed Sanda and shaved his hair and gave him food to eat. A dealer in second- hand clothing offered a shirt for Sanda while another man gave him a pair of trousers to wear.

In an interview with The Mirror, Evangelist Mills recounted that he had healed more than 10 mental patients through the power of God. “ I started my ministry at the age of 15 years. When I started, I fasted and prayed to God to use me to heal those who are mentally ill and have been shunned by society,” he said.

Evangelist Mills is a member of the Prayer Warriors and Youth Wing of the Wesley Methodist Church at Palladium. His vision is to build a camp where the healed mental patients can be kept so that their recovery can be monitored. According to Mills, he has healed mental patients in Koforidua, Kumasi, Takoradi and Nsawam. The healed man, Sanda, would not answer any questions but only said he hails from Tamale.

Evangelist Mills made an appeal for funds to pay for Sanda’s transport expenses back to Tamale.
