FLASHBACK: Comedian Bob Okala dead

Ghanaians and the entertainment industry 2 years ago lost one of its talented people - Comedian Samuel Kwadwo Boaben popularly known as Bishop Bob Okala

Today Ghanaweb takes us back to March 6, 2016, when he performed with other Kumawood stars at the Blackstars Square.

The late Bob Okala with Agya Koo, Kyeiwaa, Bob Okala, Kwaku Manu, Charsey, Mr. Beautiful, Papa Nii and others dressed like colonial Police to entertain former President John Mahama and other dignitaries gathered for the event.

He paid his last dues to his country with that last public appearance at the 59th Independence day parade.

Seven days after his performance, Ghanaians woke up to the sad news of his death at the Koforidua Regional Hospital.

Bishop Bob Okala, before his death, performed at the Koforidua Jackson Park, which was organized by the management of Joy Industries Limited, producers of Joy Dadi Bitters.

It was reported he collapsed on stage while performing; died shortly after being rushed to the hospital.

Meanwhile, at today's 61st Independence day parade, President Nana Akufo-Addo has charged Ghanaians to build on past glories in hope for a better future as Ghana marks 61 years of independence.

“On a day such as today, our thoughts invariably stray to the past, but we do not intend to live on past memories. To paraphrase Ephraim Amu in Yen araasaaseni, it is now our turn to build on those past glories,” the President said in his speech at the Black Star Square today.
