‘Faceoff with the International MP’ launched in Kumasi

It was a mixture of culture, old school recollection and an insightful sharing of knowledge and experiences at the launch of the book ‘Faceoff with the International MP’ on Friday at the KNUST Great Hall in the Ashanti regional capital Kumasi.

The ‘Face of with the International MP’ authored by a known Facebook influence, Rodney Nkrumah Boateng has received commendable ratings since it was first launched and released in the capital Accra.

Rodney carved for himself a virtual constituency in the year 2009 through his insightful writings on an array of topics which cut across social life, travel, food, trending issues and hard politics of Ghana in particular and the world at large.

For the thousands of virtual constituents, his wits, satire, reminiscing of the good old days, the depth of his analysis and the biting but amusing trolling of rival senior high schools and politicians continues to keep them religiously visiting his timelines.

The launch which was chaired by senior linguistics Professor with the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Dr Charles Marfo witnessed a good display of tradition with the rendition of appellations from Fapempong, spoken word by Nana Asaase and occasional music interludes from the guitarist soloist Nene Narh under the direction of the hilarious Master of Ceremony Comedian David Agglah.

Sharing his thoughts about the book titled ‘Faceoff with the International MP’, the chair of the launch Dr. Charles Marfo observed that the story of the Ghanaian society encapsulated several ideas that should inspire a culture of writing for amusement and history.

He was optimistic that the book would inspire several young Ghanaians to write about evolving trends; different shades of lifestyles and cultures that inspire literacy but remains undocumented.



“It just gives me hope that people are getting to understand why we should begin to write what happens around us. Especially with this one, it touches on so many issues that have to do with our everyday life. Yet we take it for granted and nobody really records them so for me, it turns out like a data.

Making reference to some portions of the book, Dr Marfo pointed out, “It’s more like people taking cognizance of things around us and putting it into a book and this is what we should be doing because things keep changing and until we begin to document some of these, people might not even know what life used to be.

I was reading a portion of it where he was talking about a case in Ash Town where sandwich was made in the form of a piece of chicken in the middle of two slices of bread and I remember when I was a kid in Ash Town it used to be there but now, it is no more. It will only take a person in the caliber of the present author to record some of these things for posterity sake.”

The Author Mr. Rodney Nkrumah told Ultimate News’ Ivan Heathcote-Fumador he was particularly excited about his controversial writings on politics although he also felt quite attached to his reviews about “the late Asantehemaa, royalty, culture, food, and travel.”

Rodney puts the reason for stirring so much controversy quite succinctly. “I try to have an opinion. Some of the trains are quite controversial but what is the point of life without controversy? so that’s me and that’s the inspiration.”



The honourable Facebook legislator also disclosed that he is working on a couple of projects which will see him releasing a book a year in different genres of writing including novels, short stories, history of the past kings of Ashanti, the period of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in opposition and memoirs on high profile achievers in society.

Sharing his review of the content of the book, young PCP Clinician Leadership Award winner with the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), Dr Richard Selormey indicated, “This book will inspire young people like us to feel that they could also put something in books because these are everyday happenings beautifully written.”

The program also turned into an Opoku Ware School affair with the national and global presidents of the old students association Jerry Boakye Danquah reading emotions and trolling old students of rival schools specifically Prempeh College who recently won the National Science and Math Quiz.

An Old Akatakyie, Kwame Adarkwah told Ultimate News, “As Akatakyie we are very proud of Rodney. This is his fourth book and we all know that Rodney is the global secretary of our old students association and we can only wish him more luck and wish that he goes higher in all he is doing.”

The auction which was led by the head of News with Kumasi based Ultimate 106.9 FM Mr. Julius Caesar Anadem recorded an impressive buy In with the going price ranging between two thousand cedis to sixty cedis per copy.
