Mr Faisal Helwani a popular music producer, promoter and administrator is reported dead. His death reportedly occurred late Sunday Evening, 27th July 2008 at Lebanon where he hails from. The well-known music and copyright advocate traveled back home to Lebanon to seek medical attention where he met his untimely death after a short illness. He was 62.
Before his death, Mr Helwani was the Chief Executive Officer of Bibini Music and owner of former Napalion Nigh Club in Osu. His record label Bibini Music discovered popular blind musician, Onipa Nia. He was also the brain behind the “Pop chain idol” a talent hunt show which seeked to unearth hidden musical talents.
The late music producer is also strong founding member of the first and only recognized music body in the country, Musician Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) and part of the Copyright Society of Ghana (COSGA). Date for burial and funeral arrangements will be published later.
