Asamankese, July 16. GNA- Stephen Abalo, a farmer from Akroso, went to the Asamankese market and stole a half piece of cloth as a man with good vision.
However, during his trial, he told the judge, Mr Emmanuel Siameh, that he could hardly see and could not even tell if the person sitting on the judge's seat was a man or a woman.
However, before the judge sentenced him to three months in prison, Abalo was asked to show the colours of the cloth he was said to have stolen, after it was shown to him, and he spontaneously mentioned the colours.
Police Chief Inspector Kate Ogyiri had earlier told the court that on June 18, Abalo went to the Asamankese market and bargained for a half piece of cloth.
She said when another customer was chatting with the trader, Abalo took advantage of that situation and picked the cloth valued at GHC 26, hid it in his jacket, and was walking away when the seller raised the alarm and he was arrested.
