Abraham Attah
Child actor, Abraham Attah has earned worldwide acclaim for his role in the movie Beasts of No Nation.
He won Marcello Mastroianni Award for Best Young Actor at Venice Film Festival weeks ago for playing the lead role alongside Idris Elba.
The fame, exposure and travels hasn’t changed Attah in any way, says the director of the movie, Cary Fukunaga in an interview with magazine Vulture.
“Abraham is cool as a cucumber. He enjoys the photos, he enjoys being onstage.
At the same time, it still feels like him. I think he’s really enjoying it, but he’s a little bit tired. He’s got a lot of school to catch up with right now. So the last two weeks have been, like, a blur.”
He adds, “He went to Venice twice because he had to go back to receive the award on Saturday. He’s living and traveling with a friend of mine’s parents whose daughters were both actresses when they were little, and so they’re used to being sort of stage parents. They’ve been really great with him.”
He played the role of Agu, who when civil war engulfs his West African country is forced to join a unit of mercenary fighters.
The movie has premiered at a number of prestigious film festivals across the world and scheduled to premiere in the United States of America on October 16 on Netflix and in selected theaters.
Based on the 2005 novel of the same title by Uzodinma Iweala, it was partly shot in Ghana also stars Ama K. Abebrese, David Dontoh and Grace Omaboe.
