Gospel musician Sonnie Badu has blamed the pitch invasion by some Ghanaian supporters on losing their bets placed on the Angola – Ghana game.

He argues that they are not actually worried about the country losing the game.

Rather, they are peeved because they lost their bet.

In a post shared via social media, he said “The reason people go crazy and break things when their team loses often comes down to the bets they’ve placed and the money they’ve lost. When you see a man weeping after a lost match, it’s because he knows the true cost.

The day I realized this was the day I took my heart out of football—it’s a betting game that can make you rich or broke.

So, dear boys, when you’re playing, remember that lives are at stake. Come back stronger. And to the people of Kumasi, I’m deeply sorry that the record has been broken, but let’s continue to support them—they will do better”.

Ghana lost by a goal to Angola in their first African Cup of Nations Qualifier.
