Farm labourer fined for stealing a dog

Twifo Praso (C/R), April 7, GNA - A 48-year old farm labourer from Twifo Hemang, who stole a dog belonging to one Mr Kwesi Ofori, a farmer was on Thursday fined 250,000 cedis by a magistrate's court at Twifo Praso.

Kofi Tei, who pleaded guilty to stealing, will go to jail for two months in default.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Samuel Kpogo told the court presided over by Mr Joseph Blay that last Thursday, the convict, who stays in the same vicinity with Mr Ofori at Twifo Hemang, took advantage of his absence, stole the dog and sold it to one Mr John Tongo at 35,000 cedis.

The prosecution said Tei was arrested upon a tip off, but denied stealing the dog and only confessed when Mr Tongo identified him as the culprit. 7 April 06
