Kwesi Ahumah, a 58-year-old farmer from Gomoa-Obuasi, has been remanded in prison custody by the Agona Swedru community tribunal on a charge of grave looting.
Ahumah, who pleaded guilty, will reappear tomorrow.
The chairman of the tribunal, Mr Abdul Fatawu Yakubu, objected to the original charge of stealing and asked the police to change it.
Prosecuting, Police Inspector Janet Dorku told the tribunal that on March 2 this year the accused brought home a human skull which he said he got from the cemetery and his tenants advised him to send it back.
The accused never did and when on May 14 the tenants saw him with the skull again, they reported to the Omankrado's palace.
Inspector Dorku said when he was interrogated at the palace he said he was going to sell it to a herbalist.
The chief ordered the accused to be sent to the police station where, on further interrogation, he said he stole the skull from the local Catholic cemetery.
The prosecution said he mentioned an accomplice, Kofi Ahorbah, who is at large.
