Farmer fined for stealing akpeteshie

Suhum, June 14, GNA - A Magistrate Court at Suhum sentenced a 43-year-old farmer, Kwasi Amoah to a fine of 500,000 cedis for stealing akpeteshie (local gin).

Amoah who pleaded guilty would go to prison for six months in default.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector of Police Kwadjo Gbor, told the Court presided over by Lieutenant Colonel Alex Kofi Lartey (rtd) that the complainant, Madam Florence Marku an akpeteshie seller at Dedewa near Mangoase in the Akuapem North District live in the same village with the accused.

Insp. Gbor said on May 30, this year, the accused stole a jerrican of akpeteshie from the complainant's house in the night and while carrying the gin away the daughter of the complainant, Rita Naki, confronted him.

Naki reported the matter to the complainant (mother) who also informed the police at Mangoase. June 14 04
