Farmer helps police in murder case

Suhum (E/R), March 31, GNA- A 36-year-old farmer, Matthew Kofi Raster, is helping the police in connection with the death of an 18-year-old radio mechanic apprentice, Kofi Okyere Darko, at Suhum. Suhum Police told the Ghana News Agency that the suspect and the deceased were friends with the suspect living at Aponoapono Number One, a farming village near Suhum, while the deceased lived with his father, Mr Eric Boateng, at Suhum.

On February 26, this year, the deceased and a friend, Joseph Asamoah, a student of the Suhum Presbyterian Senior Secondary School, visited the suspect in his village and that the suspect prepared food which they all ate.

The police said after that suspect and the deceased were fondling with a gun when it exploded with the bullet hitting the head of the deceased who died instantly.

A report was made to the police and the suspect was arrested. Meanwhile, the deceased had since been buried after a post mortem examination at police hospital. 31 March 04
