The Twifu-Hemang-Lower Denkyira community tribunal on Friday sentenced a farmer, Kwesi Kuma, alias killer, to 36 months imprisonment for stealing two goats, jumping bail and causing harm.

He pleaded guilty to all the charges.

The tribunal presided over by Mr. John Ankoma heard that on May 24, Kuma attempted to sell two goats to some butchers at Twifu Praso. The butchers became suspicious and arrested Kuma to the police station.

Prosecution said the accused, who was given bail to appear in court on May 26 failed to turn up. He was arrested on a bench warrant and placed in police custody.

On June 2, Kuma escaped from police cells but was arrested a few metres from the police station. His arrest was, however, not without a fight. He bit and gave a blow to a police helper, Mr. Kwame Mbroh who assisted in arresting him.

The tribunal ordered the goats to be given back to their owners and 100,000 cedis paid as compensation to Mr. Mbroh.
