Host of popular fashion show Fashion 101, Sandra Ankobiah has been called to the bar. At a meeting of the General Legal Council in Accra on April 12, Miss Gyamfua Ankobiah Sandra and 38 others were officially called to the Ghana Bar.

She took an undertaking to be of good behaviour, and adhere to the general ethics of the profession. “I Sandra Ankobiah, a duly qualified applicant for enrolment and call to the bar of Ghana, hereby give this undertaking that so long as I remain a Legal Practitioner in Ghana, I shall abide by the precepts enjoined in, and practice the profession in accordance with the Legal Profession (Professional Conduct and Etiquette) Rules prescribed by the General Legal Council, and in everything that I do I will uphold the honour and dignity of the Legal Profession.”

Her Ladyship Chief Justice Georgina Wood who administered and chaired the induction ceremony called on the new lawyers to uphold the tenets of the legal profession.

“Many have expressed disappointment at the increasing lack of civility among professional colleagues which unfortunately, sometimes shows in the lack of respect between the bench and the bar,” she said.

“I would like to encourage you to learn from your seniors and each other. The Law School has only given you a broad hint of what exist in real life. The lawyers’ life is a world of hard work; of serious study and legal research.

“I also urge you to learn to cultivate the virtues of true humility, gentleness, decency, respect to all professional colleagues particularly you seniors and the office of the judge”.

Sandra is a former student of the Akosombo International School, and also holds a University of Buckingham, UK, LLB and LLM in International and Commercial Law before entering the Ghana School of Law, Makola, Accra.

Her peers describe her as an “elegant, young fashionista who strongly believes in the importance of looking good”.

She was a runner-up in the 2002 edition of the Miss Ghana and Miss ECOWAS beauty pageants, and has also modeled, appearing in campaigns for Ghana Textiles Print (GTP) among other high profile companies.

Her Fashion 101 show, launched in December 2011 has grown to become the leading fashion magazine television show.
