Communications expert and entertainment blogger, Frederick Noamesi has outlined few reasons why he will not watch Kofi Asamoah’ directed movie ‘Amakye and Dede’ for a third time.
Prior to the premiere of the said movie some months ago, precisely March 26, 2016 there was so much publicity, hypes and stories that Ghanaians are likely to watch something different from the usual movies.
The parody movie which starred; Majid Michel, Kalybos, Ahuofe Patricia, John Dumelo, Roselyn Ngissah, Salma Mumin, Emelia Brobbey, Moesha Buduonh, Grace Nortey, Fred Nuamah and many others passed to be highest attended movie premiere in Ghana ever.
However, ‘Amakye and Dede’ movie isn’t different from what we see daily in Telenovelas, Soaps and other movie genres.
According to Frederick Noamesi, Ghanaians want to see something different from our movie producers. The old storyline ending in marriages or two men fighting for the love of a lady ought to pause for something unique.
Ghana has an ocean of untold history, places, and unsung heroes that the world has to hear about, but little is done to this effect.
“Ghanaians want to see history, Ghanaians and the world would love to watch movies that feature unsung heroes.”
“Where are our cultures, traditions and a lot more in our movies?”
Reviewing the movie, he commended the effort of the director, Kofi Asamoah and the scriptwriter but entreated them to blend Ghana’s history in their subsequent productions.
‘Amakye and Dede’ is a good attempt though.
