Popular social media influencer and actress Precious Fella Makafui has been granted bail after her arrest for selling unregistered drugs from her shop in Mempeasem.

Investigative reporter Akwasi Koranteng, representing ISPYGH 247—an investigative documentary filmmaking firm in partnership with the Pharmacy Council Ghana—reported the arrest of Fella Makafui on May 22, 2024.

The arrest followed a six-month surveillance operation monitoring Fella's social media activity on platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.

The report lists confiscated items including fertility teas, enlargement syrups and oils, detox pearls, and sexual vitality teas, among others.

These products were allegedly marketed without approval from the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA).

During interrogation, Fella, the CEO of Simply Snatched Slimming Tea, admitted to selling non-FDA-registered drugs.

She has since been granted bail pending further investigation.

The Pharmacy Council Ghana and ISPYGH 247 have stated that they will provide further updates as the case progresses.

Fella's arrest follows the arrest of some other social media influencers, including Snapchat influencer Dulcie Boateng, in April 2024 by the Pharmacy Council in collaboration with Akwasi Koranteng.

This comes in the wake of her messy separation from her husband Medikal.

Flat Tummy Brouhaha

Medikal claimed in a Snapchat post that she had undergone cosmetic surgery to enhance her figure.

He accused her of visiting Turkey and Nigeria to have multiple surgeries done for thousands of dollars while promoting her slimming products.

These claims led to a public outcry with calls for a thorough investigation by the FDA.

In defence, media personality and Sing-a-thon contender, Afua Asantewaa argues that Fella's radical business decisions were not unusual but rather smart and strategic. Her stance, however, was met with disapproval from many Ghanaians.
