Fetish Priest in court for fraud

Accra Jan. 5, GNA - A 47 year-old Fetish Priest, who allegedly collected 7.3 million cedis and two mobile phones from two traders, under the pretext of making them rich over night, appeared before the Accra District Magistrate Court on Tuesday.

Iddrisu Mohammed pleaded not guilty to conspiracy and defrauding by false pretences, while his accomplice, one Mallam Adamu is on the run.


The Court presided over Mrs Elizabeth Edusei admitted Mohammed to 10-million cedis bail to reappear on February 1, this year.


Police Sergeant Jubiok Michaels, told the Court that about five months ago, Mohammed and Adamu, collected the money and the two mobile phones from Wofa Yaw and Isaac Oduro, the complainants and then lured them into a forest near Legon in Accra, where they were supposed to have performed rituals that would enable them to communicate with a money making spirit.

After the rituals the complainants were tricked into believing that they would receive 400,000 US dollars after paying 4,000 dollars through the accused person to the spirit.


The complainants suspecting foul play and asked Mohammed to refund the money but he failed to do so leading to his arrest.
