Hiplife political satirist, Barima Sydney who accompanied Chairman Wontumi to seek facts about the ongoing misery of Castro and Janet Bandu’s mysterious disappearance, has briefed GhanaWeb Entertainment Desk on their findings at Ada on Tuesday.

The ‘Wontumi Team’ who made it to Ada included the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako aka Chairman Wontumi and Lawyer/member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Communication team, Yaw Adomako Baafi.

The Briefing

Narrating his ordeal in seeking first-hand information, Barima Sydney told Ghanaweb Entertainment that upon reaching Ada on Tuesday morning, the ‘Wontumi team’ first went to Peace Hotel where the celebrants were reported to have initially lodged and interacted with some of its workers.

According to Sydney, some workers of Peace Hotel told them that earlier that fateful day, Asamoah Gyan, the singer and their friends were seen together at the hotel and “they decided to hire a boat that carries 10 people at a time and about 8 people including the footballer and singer joined in heading to Aqua Safari.

Each of the 8 persons who joined in the boat to Aqua Safari, rode on a Jet Ski in the early hours of that morning and later left for the Peace Hotel without Castro who wanted to ride more. He later rode on the Jet Ski to the Peace Hotel where Janet joined him for the cruise,” he said.

Barima Sydney noted that they also spoke to some fisher folks in the quest to establish the fact that indeed the two were seen riding on the Jet Ski and, “they confirmed that they saw Castro and Janet on the Jet Ski heading towards the estuary but did not see them fall into the river.”

He also mentioned that they were informed that the Jet Ski on its own crossed the estuary and was found at a village near the sea although most of the fisher folks expressed disbelief and doubt that the two might have really drowned as “there are quite a number of islands surrounding the estuary which even they would have easily been located and helped.”

“They also refuted reports that the town’s priest had been consulted but revealed that there is a river god at the meeting point of the estuary called ‘Adzinzanzah’ which their forefathers worshiped in their days hence that section of the estuary is believed to be a very powerful and spiritual part of the river,” Sydney rounded up his briefing.

The brouhaha on the Castro, Janet disappearance has come with different narratives each day since the incident which occurred while they were Jet Skiing at Aqua Safari Resort in the Ada estuary on Sunday, July 6, 2014.

The two were reported to have gone on a weekend rendezvous with the singer’s childhood friend, who doubles as Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan and others.

Meanwhile, the ‘Wontumi team’ is still making some enquiries to assist the Police get to the root of the mystery.
